SCHEDULED MARKET-STRUCTURE CHANGE

December 6, 2026 U.S. Overnight-Market Expansion

December 6 is becoming a broader U.S. market-infrastructure milestone. Nasdaq’s Night Session is the primary confirmed exchange event. Other venue dates and infrastructure changes carry their own confirmed, scheduled or conditional status described below.

Nasdaq Stock Market

Nasdaq currently expects to introduce a Night Session on Sunday, December 6, 2026, creating a 23-hour weekday structure on the Nasdaq Stock Market. The implementation remains subject to SIP readiness and applicable SEC rule changes.

SessionEastern Time
Premarket4:00 AM–9:30 AM
Regular Market9:30 AM–4:00 PM
Post-Market4:00 PM–8:00 PM
Day-to-Night Transition Pause8:00 PM–9:00 PM, Monday–Thursday
Night Session9:00 PM–4:00 AM

The one-hour Monday–Thursday pause supports maintenance, processing and transition to the next trade date. The week begins directly with Sunday’s 9:00 PM Night Session. This is 23-hour weekday trading—not 24/7 trading.

Sunday night and broker access

The Nasdaq trading week is scheduled to begin Sunday at 9:00 PM ET. Exchange availability and broker access are separate. A broker may offer different overnight hours, securities or order capabilities.

Eligible securities

Nasdaq’s exchange rules determine what may trade and when. An individual broker may make a narrower set available to its customers.

Nasdaq orders and trade dates

Nasdaq’s official FAQ says routable orders will be accepted. Several order types and attributes will not be available, including unpriced market orders, primary, market, midpoint and market-maker pegged orders, and orders tied to Nasdaq’s opening or closing crosses.

Orders still outstanding at 4:00 AM ET will be cancelled rather than automatically continuing into the subsequent session. Orders may be re-entered beginning at 4:00 AM.

Trades from 9:00 PM to midnight are reported with the next calendar day’s trade date. Trades from midnight through 8:00 PM use the current calendar day’s trade date.

24X National Exchange

24X National Exchange currently targets Sunday, December 6, 2026 for expansion of its exchange trading hours, subject to its stated remaining regulatory requirements. This is a target date, not an unconditional launch guarantee.
